Counselling service for individuals and families
With a foundation in psychodynamic principles and armed with a Master's degree in counselling, I bring over 10 years of clinical expertise working with adult clientele, individuals and couples. My professional background includes roles at esteemed institutions such as the Highgate Counselling Centre, Nafsiyat, and as a staff counsellor at the University of Cambridge.
I have worked with many issues such as depression, anxiety, sexual issues, grief, just the name a few, however my particular interest is in addressing issues related to fertility/infertility, pregnancy and miscarriage, birth, and postnatal depression (PND).
I maintain accreditation as a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), adhering rigorously to their esteemed code of ethics.
At Lighthouse Counselling Practice, my mission is to provide high-quality counselling services to individuals, couples, and families who are experiencing emotional or psychological difficulties.
I offer open ended and short term therapy online via zoom or google meet. Relationship therapy can be as frequent as needed weekly or biweekly sessions are all possible.
Introduction to Psychodynamic Therapy
Psychodynamic therapy is a form of talk therapy that delves into the deep-seated, often unconscious, emotions and experiences that influence your thoughts, behaviors, and relationships. Rooted in the work of Sigmund Freud and later developed by other psychologists, this approach helps you uncover and understand hidden patterns in your life, often shaped by past experiences.
By exploring these unconscious processes, psychodynamic therapy aims to bring self-awareness and insight, leading to personal growth and healthier, more fulfilling relationships. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, or relationship issues, psychodynamic therapy can provide a pathway to lasting change and emotional well-being.
What will happen after you get in touch with me
I aim to respond to your email within 24 hours.
We will schedule a short online or phone conversation where we will discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and any immediate concerns.
During this conversation, you'll also have the opportunity to ask about my approach, availability, fees.
Scheduling the First Session
If both you and the I, your therapist, feel we are a good fit after our initial call, we will schedule our first therapy session. In our first session, I will gather more detailed information about your history, current issues, and what you would like to get out of therapy.
I will explain how the sessions typically work, discuss confidentiality, talk about the counselling agreement and think about a suitable time to meet for our weekly sessions.
We then begin regular therapy sessions, typically once a week, though this can change overtime depending on your needs.
Over time, we together explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, working towards greater self-awareness and positive change.
Throughout the process, we hopefully will create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can openly discuss your thoughts and feelings.
